You are what you eat…

24 Oct

It has been crazy around here. After Bobby’s fight we went to IHOP and ate a lot of pancakes, too many probably. We went home and struggled through the next couple of days. We ate and ate…since we had the most plain food while he was cutting weight, but then we didn’t feel so good and started gaining some weight… and now Bobby is sick.

It’s kind of crazy and awesome if you think about it. Let me explain. God made our bodies to eat the foods he created for us. Instead of eating that…we decided to create our own food and make up our own things and in return we get sick, we have food related allergies, diseases, and problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

Did you know that if we would all go back to eating unadulterated foods we would all live happier, healthier lives. Man created fried foods, sodas, and McDonald’s kids meals that don’t mold when left out. Yeah, true story, and gross.

Long story short…Bobby got sick because of the food he started putting in his body. He had been on a strict Paleo diet, which means eating only things you could find out in the wild without gardening or farming, and when he started eating out in restaurants again and eating a lot of dairy and grains his body felt like it was getting attacked. Tons of white blood cells started flooding his body to “attack” the food leaving his immune system weak from “fighting and attacking”. Fast forward to a few days after his fight and back to rolling (jiu-jitsu speak for practicing jiu-jitsu) and he got sick, because he rolled with a guy who had just had a cold, but was no longer feeling bad.

Does this all make sense? If not, watch Food Matters. It’s a pretty cool documentary we watched on Netflix. By the way, I do not get any compensation for talking about this documentary…I just liked it. 🙂

About Food Matters: “Let thy Food be thy Medicine and thy Medicine be thy Food” – Hippocrates.

‘Food Matters’ is a hard hitting, fast paced look at our current state of health. Despite the billions of dollars of funding and research into new so-called cures we continue to suffer from a raft of chronic ills and every day maladies.

Now, back to healthy, good food.

Be Blessed, Adri
